IT & Security Assessments
Know exactly where you stand.
Most business owners have a feeling about their technology and no facts. A Corewell Technology assessment replaces the feeling with an inventory, a security score, a risk register, and a prioritized plan with costs, written for the people who run the business rather than the people who run the servers. The initial assessment is free for Los Angeles businesses, and the findings are yours to act on with us or without us.
- Complete inventory of devices, accounts, and software
- Security scored against the CIS Controls
- Backup, continuity, and compliance reviewed
- Findings and a costed plan in plain language
What the assessment covers
Every device, server, cloud account, and application, discovered with our tools and confirmed with your staff. Security posture scored against the CIS Controls: identity and multi-factor authentication, endpoint protection, patching, email security, network segmentation, privileged accounts, logging, and awareness training. Backup coverage and whether it has ever been restored. Business continuity and single points of failure. Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace configuration against the vendor benchmark. Licensing and spend. Vendor contracts and renewal dates. And compliance obligations that apply to your industry and whether they are met.
Why an independent assessment is worth a few hours
Providers rarely audit themselves, and internal staff rarely have time. An assessment surfaces the server with no backup, the former employee who still has access, the firewall rule that exposes the accounting system, and the renewal that is about to lapse, before any of them becomes an incident. It also gives leadership a baseline and a budget, so the technology conversation becomes a plan rather than a series of emergencies.
How Corewell conducts it
An engineer meets with you to understand the business and its concerns, then spends time on site and in your systems with read-only access and non-invasive discovery tools. We interview the people who touch technology daily. Within two weeks we deliver a written report: an executive summary, a scored security posture, a risk register ranked by likelihood and impact, a roadmap of recommended projects with estimated costs, and the raw inventory as an appendix. We present it in person and answer every question.
What you do with it
Some businesses hire us to execute the plan as their managed service provider. Some hand the report to their internal team or current provider. Some use it to pass a customer security review or satisfy an insurer. The findings belong to you regardless, and there is no obligation. For regulated businesses we also offer formal assessments: HIPAA security risk analysis, CMMC gap assessment, and penetration testing with a written report.

Questions
Common questions
Is the assessment really free?
The standard business assessment is free for Los Angeles companies with 10 or more employees and takes a few hours of your staff's time. Formal compliance assessments and penetration tests that produce attestable reports are priced separately.
Will the assessment disrupt our work?
No. Discovery tools are read-only and run during business hours without impact. Interviews are scheduled around your staff, and no changes are made to any system.
What if our current provider objects?
A reputable provider welcomes an independent review. We can perform the assessment with their cooperation or without involving them, using access you authorize. Either way the findings are reported to you.
